CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

At Sterling First UMC, our vision is that every child who goes through our ministries will become established in an authentic love and faith in Jesus Christ. We pray that they cling to this as the most important thing in their lives. They won't always be in school, or playing sports, but whereever they are and whatever they're doing, they will know that they are loved by the God who created them and sent His Son to die for them.

WEDNESDAYS:

CROSS TRAINING (K-4th) | 3:30-5:00

Cross Training meets each Wednesday (apart from full or half-day school vacations). Students are picked up by volunteers at Sterling Grade School by the Kindergarten classrooms at the end of the school day. Our time is spent building our spiritual muscles through fellowship, worship, teaching, discussion, and of course, lots of fun! Because Cross Training is a community-wide ministry, we have kids from many different churches and backgrounds. As such, we focus on the essentials of the Christian faith and the core teachings of the Bible.

J-CREW (5th-6th) | 3:30-5:00

J-Crew meets each Wednesday (apart fom full or half-day school vacations). Students are either picked up by volunteers at Sterling Grade School (along with Cross Training), or meet us at the church, in our 2nd floor cafe. Our time, split between fellowship, worship, teaching and discussion, is designed to provide preteens a place where they can ask the big questions about God and faith, and be discipled as young leaders in the church through several serving opportunities.

SUNDAYS:

SUNDAY SCHOOL | 10:30-11:15

Our Sunday School class meets on the 2nd floor, in one class for all ages. Our classes are a combination of further exploration of Cross Training/J-Crew lessons, as well as going deeper into the teachings of the Bible. We also spend time learning how to read the Bible on our own, to further nurture the spiritual disciplines of an authentic faith.
